Yesterday I had a bit of good news and so I decided to celebrate with my new favourite drink - sloe gin and pomegranate fizz. I tried Sipsmith gin back in July when we visited The Ethicurean, and this Christmas I bought a bottle of their sloe gin. It is stupendous.
You will need:
35ml sloe gin
5ml grenadine
250ml tonic water
Copious amounts of ice
1/2 orange, sliced
1/2 pomegranate, seeds and juice
Method:
1. Fill a tumbler with ice.
2. Measure your gin and grenadine and pour over the ice.
3. Throw in your orange slices, pomegranate seeds, and squeeze the juice of both into the glass.
4. Pour in the tonic.
Down the hatch.
By the way, I had a hard time working out where to buy sloe gin in Bristol so I called Sipsmith and spoke to the very chipper Sam, who helped me to track down a bottle {Waitrose, of course}. Gotta love helpful, independent producers.

Oh my, this looks fabulous. I've tried Sipsmith too and it's very agreeable gin! I tasted it in an independent bottle shop in Edinburgh but recently saw it in Waitrose too. I love the way you've photographed this post, it's lovely. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteSipsmith is rather lovely, I also tracked it down in my local Waitrose.
ReplyDeleteI saw a short film on Sipsmith and the their distillery in London. Amazing! Can I come over? x
ReplyDeleteMy Waitrose stcks Sipsmith too - not sure about the sloe variety though. Looks like a pleasing tipple and all that fruit? One of your 5 a day...

ReplyDeleteWe've got half a bottle left of our 2011 sloe gin, it's such a lovely drink. Great to see it being used in a cocktail. I recently tried cranberry and Dissaronno, tastes a bit like Bakewell tart, yum.
